What We Do

NextGenRadio is a multimedia journalism training for college and graduate students, as well as a program for early-career journalists, who are interested in public radio as a career pathway.

During the week-long program, our participants are guided by mentors who are industry professionals and working journalists, to complete a story ready for broadcast and publication. The participants develop story ideas and focus statements before reporting the topic; they conduct interviews, capture audio and work with editors to write and produce the audio piece; each participate also write an accompanying text story, shoots photos and produce multimedia for each story.
